Just a quick not on some things coming to the iPhone:
The SDK is shipped officially TODAY!
Developers pay a $99 fee to get there apps sold through the “App Store” which will appear on the iPhone in a future firmware upgrade. The developers can charge whatever they want for their apps, which means there will be FREE applications available through this method I’m sure. For medical professionals like myself, Epocrates has an iPhone version to be released. EA and Sega have games ready for the iPhone. AIM is coming to the iPhone, and apparently is pretty cool, you can swipe back and forth to ongoing conversations. Unlocking apps will not be sold through the App store (duh!), VoIP apps will be allowed for WiFi but not through the cellular carrier. A lot of nerdy stuff was announced regarding exchange server and push mail, which is also coming for the iPhone.
Phil Schiller didn’t give a clear answer when asked how long it take for a developed app from time of submission till it is available on the App Store.
This new iPhone Software v2.0 will be available in June ‘08
Could this be the end of Jailbreaking?? Perhaps.
It certainly won’t be the end of unlocking.
